The Sandusky Register is reporting today that a Bolliger & Mabillard Consulting Wing Coaster will be debuting at Cedar Point next year, but will cause two losses to Cedar Point's ride roster.
If the coaster is confirmed, Disaster Transport and Space Spiral will be removed from the park to allow room for the new coaster, which is proposed to be a "Front Gate Statement — a roller coaster that flies overhead, rolls and flies back — highly visible above guests entering the park.”
So, it is assumed that the coaster will occupy the space of Disaster Transport and Space Spiral, plus part of what is now the Premium Parking Lot.     According the article, the ride will have a 170-foot tall hill, and is said to be the longest ride time and track length than any other Wing-style roller coaster.
Could this mean that we are loosing three attractions this year, including one that has been a staple of the park for over forty-five years?  We'll have to wait and see; there haven't been any confirmations from Cedar Point or Cedar Fair officials yet.
However, Lee Alexakos, the vice president of the marketing department at Cedar Point, has said that "we have not announced any plans for 2013 but we did announce a $25 million investment. This will be one of the largest capital expenditures ever," according the Sandusky Register article.

Cedar Point confirmed today via Twitter that singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen will partake in a live performance on the newly-constructed Celebration Plaza Stage.
The Call Me Maybe hit-maker will appear at Cedar Point on July 7, 2012 to perform! The concert will be free with park admission!

I spent roughly five hours in the park yesterday, but mainly to take pictures! To the right are some pretty good pictures I got yesterday! (Yes, that is the Schwabinchen lady! The woodcrafter on the Frontier Trail makes replicas of her in various sizes.)
I also went through Dinosaurs Alive! (You can see pictures of that on the Dinosaurs Alive! page, which will be live later on today.) I will admit, I was not excited at all to go through it in the beginning, but as we enter Adventure Island, I realized something: it didn't turn out crappy.  All of the dinosaurs and the surroundings actually looked realistic! It was an amazing experience.  Of course, the exhibit will be the most exciting to the kids that are going through that dinosaur-obsession phase.
I did manage to hop on one coaster yesterday, which was Gemini. The ride was amazing as always, but the trains weren't completed yet: There weren't any stripes or decals on the sides of the train, which upset me, because the trains look horrible without the decals.
So, check back here on Point Place, plus our Facebook page throughout the day to see all of the pictures from yesterday's trip!

This passage is a direct quote from Cedar Point's official website:

"Cedar Point has announced that it is expanding its new Celebration Plaza. As a part of that expansion, Cedar Point will be removing the WildCat roller coaster.

WildCat was coming to the end of its useful life. With the desired expansion to Celebration Plaza, coupled with the low ridership and increased maintenance costs, Cedar Point has decided to accelerate the removal of the ride. WildCat will be removed from the park prior to Opening Day and the materials will be sent to a recycling facility.

This expansion is one of several initiatives that will beautify the park midways and enhance guests’ experiences. Additional improvements include state-of-the-art lighting packages on Giant Wheel, Millennium Force and Power Tower, a new sound and lighting system along the park’s Main Midway and the re-painting of the Millennium Force and Blue Streak roller coasters.

Cedar Point remains committed to being the roller coaster capital of the world. New roller coasters, rides and attractions will always be a part of Cedar Point’s future."

It's always sad to see a coaster go; it's almost like a close friend has died.  However, I believe WildCat's destruction comes for good reason.

See our WildCat page for a complete history on the ride.

Platinum Passes have many benefits, and that list of benefits keeps growing!
Some of my favorite offers this year for Platinum Passholders include the six cookies for six dollars deal at C.J.'s Provisions and the great deal at Hot Potato, Mr. Potato, and Happy Friar locations with which you can buy an order of chili cheese fries, and get an order of fries and two soft drinks for free.
You can see a complete list of perks here.

Today, Cedar Point released this video on its official YouTube channel.  It gives the first details on what the new stage will look like, and what kind of celebrations will be going on every night at the park.
However, the animation failed to show how the stage will block the view of Iron Dragon on Celebration Plaza, and didn't give us any major details on what Celebration Plaza will look like beyond the stage.
If you keep a close eye on the webcams on Cedar Point's website, you can easily see work going on in Celebration Plaza each day.
The music in the video, however, shows the modernization of the show, and expresses how it is aimed towards the teenagers and youth that visit the park.

Today, Cedar Point finally posted more details on Fast Lane, the park's new virtual queue feature.
Rides that will have a Fast Lane queue include: Blue Streak, Corkscrew, Gemini, Magnum XL-200, Maverick, Millennium Force (they spelled "Millennium" wrong on the official website...), Raptor, Top Thrill Dragster, Mean Streak, maXair (also spelled incorrectly on the official website...), Power Tower, WindSeeker, Giant Wheel, Cadillac Cars, Dodgem, and Shoot the Rapids.
If you are only buying one Fast Lane pass, it will cost $50.  However, the prices lessens with how many passes you buy.  With two, they will cost $45 each.  With three, they will cost $40 each.  With four, they will cost $35 each. And finally, with five or more passes bought in one sitting, they will cost just $30 each.
Whether you take advantage of Fast Lane or not, I'm sure this will be an unforgettable season at Cedar Point!

Hey guys, it's Nick. (Obviously, who else would it be?)

I have a quick question for all of our great Point Place supporters.  I've considered opening a small forum right here on the website, but I wanted input first.  Would everyone use it if I opened it? Because I would hate to have a dead forum lying around here on the site...

If you'd like to voice your opinion on a Point Place forum, let me know in the comments!  Any suggestions or comments for the site are always valued, either through comments on blog posts or via the "Contact Us" form

Cedar Point recently posted this picture of what Soak City's new slide complex should look like when it is completed.  Along with the picture, the name was officially released, which is "Dragster H20," as voted on by Facebook fans.  Who is ready for some new fun at Soak City?

This post on NewsPlusNotes shows some pictures from the slideshow presentation at Cedar Point on Saturday when guests of the Pointbuzz community got an exclusive off-season look at the park.  Although I couldn't attend myself, after reviewing some videos from the presentations, I can tell you some great details about Luminosity, the park's all-new light and sound show.
The show requires a new stage and the removal of the currently white-screen that is standing in the midway for the park's last light and sound shows, American Portrait and Hot Summer Lights! The new stage and show will completely re-shape the Million Dollar Midway into Celebration Plaza: an area described by Lee Alexakos that "families can enjoy together."
The new stage will be building adjacent to Coasters, in front of Iron Dragon's final brake run.  To make way for the stage, Iron Dragon's queue line will be re-located next to the ride's exit gate.
In daylight hours, the Luminosity stage will be home to a new Peanuts-themed show, while the Good Time Theatre across the plaza will be home to an all-new Snoopy ice skating show.
At night, the park will come alive.  New lighting packages will be displayed on Millennium Force, Power Tower, and Giant Wheel, bringing the rides back to their glory days and back to date with WindSeeker in terms of lighting.  In the presentation, Alexakos stated Luminosity: Ignite the Night would being around 9 P.M., and will brighten the atmosphere even more, with live show of over 25 dancers, 3 drummers, 2 cirque performers, and 2 D.J.'s that will entertain guests with over 40 minutes of lights, fireworks, and music.  According to a list shown at the presentations, songs from Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Adele, Jay-Z, the cast of "Glee," Maroon 5, and my personal favorite, Lady Gaga, will be played during the performance, among other artists.
During the show, the Main Midway will be another area to check out.  The entire main midway will be completely fitted with a new music and lighting system, including lighting elements of the Coliseum and Snoopy Boutique.  Moving lights shaped like Peanuts characters will also be shone down on the walkways on the Main Midway.
With all of these improvements, along with the pre-existing Starlight Experience, Cedar Point will never sleep!
I'm so overjoyed that Mr. Ouimet is quickly making many improvements to make Cedar Point better than it already was, and is bringing back great elements of the park that Mr. Kinzel let fade away years ago, and eliminating the problems of the park that Mr. Kinzel seemed to ignore time and time again.  Seeing the park in such a great condition will definitely be something amazing this summer.
